Description
Keith Barker is a Metis artist from Northwestern Ontario and a member of the Metis Nation of Ontario. He is the Director of the Foerster Bernstein New Play Development Program at the Stratford Festival and the former Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts. An award-winning playwright, actor, and director, Keith is the recipient of the Johanna Metcalf Prize (2023), the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, and the Playwrights Guild of Canada's Carol Bolt Award. He was a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama in 2018 for This Is How We Got Here, and he has also received the Saskatchewan and Area Theatre Award for Achievement in Playwriting for The Hours That Remain and a Yukon Arts Award for Best Art for Social Change. Acting credits include Louis Riel in Frances Koncan's Women of the Fur Trade (Stratford Festival), The 39 Steps, King Lear (NAC), Seeds, and Fury. He directed Yvette Nolans The Art of War at Stratford in 2025.
As a playwright, director, dramaturg, movement coach and educator, Thomas Morgan Jones's work has been shared nationally and internationally. Other playwriting credits include Old Man and the River (with Lynda Hill, Theatre Direct/WeeFestival), A Wrinkle In Time (novel by Madeleine L'Engle, Stratford Festival), The Forest In My Room (Carousel Players), Arianna (The Charlottetown Festival), A Killing At La Cucina (Prairie Theatre Exchange/Vertigo Theatre), You Play Beautifully (Theatre New Brunswick), A Sunday Affair (with Gabrielle Houle and Richard Lee, TNB) and many others. As a former artistic director of Theatre New Brunswick and Prairie Theatre Exchange, he has programmed over forty world premiere productions. Currently, Thomas is the Executive Artistic Director of The National Theatre School of Canada's English Section.
