Description

Patricia Soop is a member of the Kainai Nation (Blood Tribe) of the Blackfoot Confederacy. She is a recent graduate of the Culinary Arts program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the founder of Soopz Kitchen, a catering company that brings Indigenous foodways together with contemporary culinary practice. Crystal Many Fingers is a proud Blackfoot member of the Kainai First Nation (Treaty 7) who grew up on the Blood Reserve and has made Calgary (Mohkínsɪs) her home for more than 25 years. She holds a B.A. in English Literature and a Master of Education in Adult and Workplace Learning from the University of Calgary.

Soopz Kitchen: Indigenous Meets Gourmet brings together food, story, and the art of hosting. Author Tricia Soop, a graduate of SAIT’s culinary program and founder of a successful catering company, draws on her roots in the Blood Tribe of the Blackfoot Confederacy to create five thoughtfully curated menus: Celebration, Romance, Elders Tribute, Harvest & Gathering, and Homecoming. Each full menu features beautifully crafted dishes such as fry bread, bison bites, berry-braised short ribs, saskatoon berry soup, and creative mocktails. Traditional stories, shared by Crystal Many Fingers, explore the cultural significance of the foods and feasts. More than a recipe book, Soopz Kitchen is an invitation to gather, honour, and celebrate through food.

This book contains 60 b&w illustrations.
