Dreamfast, A Trail of Stories to Lead You Home, seeks to fill part of a spot that was missed. In 2016, Elizabeth Doxtater wrote call to Action #95 to call upon each other.
Dreamfast is an important tool for those looking for a resource for the September 30th National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Dreamfast is a repatriation strategy, using storytelling as a healing tool.
About the author:
Elizabeth Doxtater was born and raised on the Six Nations Indian Reserve #40. She attended Indian day school from grades 1-8. Her family experienced at least 5 generations of direct experience from the Indian residential school system that Elizabeth chooses to call "Christian, Canadian genocidal encampments for Indian children.”
Elizabeth also authored Art of Peace, 2016. She was part of the writing team for Restorative Journey, Indigenous Educational Wellness, the Ontario College Teachers 2021 strategy to create awareness of the Indian day school system. She continues to be a practicing artist and educator and continues her work with six grass roots youth artists known as the "Group of Six.”

Hill, whose leadership helped establish Woodland Cultural Centre's Indigenous Art exhibitions, the award recognizes his enduring impact on Indigenous arts and culture. Through her work in cornhusk, beadwork, painting, storytelling, and writing, Elizabeth Doxtater has dedicated her artistic practice to sharing knowledge, protecting culture, and inspiring others. Her commitment to community, education, and supporting emerging artists embodies the spirit of this award.”
