Description
Nobody Can Do It Better Than Wariso:se is a bilingual (Mohawk and English) children's picture book by Tom Sakokwenionkwas Porter. He writes about his childhood memories of his mother who raised him to always do his best no matter what the task. In the book's example, mother is performing household chores such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor, doing laundry and washing windows. As he son watches, mother works and talks quietly to herself saying only she can do the best job at whatever the task. She models a strong work ethic for her son who remembers this teaching today. The words of advice have remained with the author and he has shared this with others. This picture book uses colour photographs of Tom Porter's relatives doing various household tasks. All the while a young boy watches from the sidelines and takes in the teaching. The book is written in Mohawk and English and is accompanied by an audio CD of the story read in Mohawk by Dorothy Lazore. High recommended.
