Sherri Maret was born and raised in Texas and has lived in many states. She lives in the state of Washington. Her mother, grandparents, and great grandparents lived in the McAlester, OK area and they share a Choctaw ancestry. Exploring her ancestry shows she is related to Joseph C. Pitchlynn (third great-grandfather) and Edward Folsum (fourth great-grandfather). She has traced her Choctaw relatives all the way to Mississippi. Thomas Hilley is an illustrator living in Oklahoma.
