Basil H. Johnston ( 1929 –2015) was a Anishinaabe (Ojibwa) and Canadian writer, storyteller, language teacher and scholar.

Among the books that Basil has written are Ojibway Heritage, Indian School Days, The Manitous, Crazy Dave and several Ojibwe language resources

For his work, he has received the Order of Ontario and Honourary Doctorates from the University of Toronto and Laurentian University.
